Nissan Leaf is a compact five-door hatch battery electric vehicle. It was stylized by manufacturer Nissan as LEAF and the first generation was introduced in 2010 and 2nd generation was introduced in 2017. During its product life cycle, the leaf range on a full charge gradually has been increased 117Km - 243Km, thank to several minor improvements but mainly to the use of a large battery pack. Below are the awards won by the Leaf car,

1. Green car vision award (2010)
2. European Car of the year (2011)
3. World car of the year (2011)
4. Car of the year Japan (2011-2012)

One reason for Leaf becoming popular is its cost. In Sri Lanka currently, a brand new Leaf is around 8 Million SLR, reconditioned - 2 Million SLR, 2nd hand car is around 1.3 Million SLR.

But why Leaf is a fail vehicle in South Asian Countries like Sri Lanka?

In regions like South Asia, the temperature is high. So that in Leaf car battery gets heat quickly and it leads it to a dead battery in around 5 years. The reason for this is it do not have an active cooling system or a liquid cooling system.

Also in developing countries like Sri Lanka, the battery charging stations are less than the fingers in the hand and some are broken. Because of that when we going a long journey by a leaf car we shout be alert about the battery life.

Then why is it a passing car in Western Countries?

But in developed countries like the USA, UK, China, Japan they have the necessary charging stations at relevant distances and also they do not have a very hot temperature as in South Asian countries.
