 Chess was started in 'maha barathaya'(combination of countries such as India , Bangladesh , Pakisthan . Etc…….).In earlier days it was called as 'chathuranga kreedawa'.First chess world champion is Wihelm steinitz while present world chess champion is Magnus Carlsen
